Music ~ 9 Mile Roots

Ya'll know I love 311...well, I'm not cheating, but I've found another band that I'm TOTALLY digging on...

9 Mile Roots @9mileroots.  They followed TCA on Twitter, I followed back and immediately listened to their song 'Believe' from their "And the Rest Will Follow" album (nine songs, released June 1, 2010 - I know right??  Over three years ago, where the fug have I been?) and was hooked.  It seduced the inner me; the substance of the words.  I felt being spoken to.  Call me crazy, but in the past week I've read my "Kismet, My Friend" post everyday to reinforce my determination to obtain a Beautiful Life, and the moment I heard 'Believe' I knew Kismet was connecting with me.

"Yes you gotta believe in yourself one time
and retrieve from the mind dedication

I support you, I believe in you."

"Yes we live in this society,
with anxiety, definitely a variety of
hatred and remorse, guilt, evil is the source
put your right foot forward
take a breath and get your life on course."

Yes, their music is very roots, rock, reggae, and ska ('Bartender' - making me skank even!).  Needless to say, I listened to the rest of their songs throughout the day and can honestly say I got the same excited feeling I had when I discovered and fell in love with 311.  I did indeed buy both their albums on Amazon and plan to get merch when their new designs and 'ladies' cut shirts are available in bountiful amounts (hopefully they consider ladies form fitting tank tops too, hint hint).

Check them out, not just Excitables, those of you who enjoy music or maybe you want to try some new music genres, give them a listen.

Here's another from the 'And the Rest Will Follow' album:

"Bartender"
(this is the one that made me skank the entire song!)

Here are a couple of my faves from their newest studio release - LIME EP:

"Simplify"

"Windows Down"

If you keep up with my blog you may see why the following song I feel deep inside...

"Something More (with lyrics)"

I also like 'Another Level' but they didn't have a video.  You can listen here, it's song number 6.

9 Mile Roots titillates my ears, rocks my body with their beats and melodies but also touches my heart with their words.  The one thing important to me however, is how their music as a whole charges my mind and fuels my soul.

TCA loves 9 Mile Roots!

Music ~ Natural Vibrations

Music is a beautiful thing.  Life is a beautiful thing.  People and relationships are beautiful things.  If there is anything positive I can tell my readers and others out there, is be grateful for it all.

Gratitude.  The meaning is:  the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciate for and to return kindness.  In a post originally published November 18th, "Kismet, My Friend", I said something, that applies to a recent debacle of a misconstrued tweet perception which resulted in being blocked by a tweep I considered a dear (e)friend:

"I am not going to wish, pray or curse the universe for not giving me what I want.  I am going to thank for everything given.  Every experience, every word spoken or written, every emotion felt, will be soaked in and cherished."

I firmly believe "everything happens for a reason".  We may not know at the time things are happening why, but somewhere along your life journey it is revealed to you.  I already have my real life stuff I've been dealing with for twelve plus years, and now, as disheartening as it is, that in a place I thought I wouldn't experience negativity, I have.  It goes to show you, that as you go through life, expect the unexpected, but be prepared to know how to deal and cope with it in a positive way.

With that being said, I wanted to share 'positive' vibrations via music.  In Hawaii, there are 'Hawaiian Radio Stations' - they play Hawaiian music (obviously, duh TCA),  KCCN FM 100 and Hawaiian Kine 105. They play Hawaiian, Reggae and Jawaiian (blends Hawaiian and Reggae). Check out their sites and listen live!

A particular band, Natural Vibrations or 'Natty Vibes', fondly called "Hawaii's Original Party Band" - they are the most popular and acclaimed band from Hawaii.  They have a song I wanted to share, because the lyrics include 'boto boto suk suk' (which in actuality, 'boto' and suk suk' are of a Filipino nature - I know, Filipino is one of the several ethnicities of my genetic make up).

"One on One" was originally released in Hawaii 1998 (16 years ago!), my younger sister and brother always sang it - which is why Crazy and I say it to one another - yes it references sex, but we would say this line for funsies - the song is funny to us because we're from Hawaii.  We understand what the song means.  Well, anyone can guess what it means but that's neither here nor there.

So without further ado, for your viewing/listening pleasure, here's "One on One" by Natural Vibrations...

Oh, one more thing, it is a repeat of what I said in my last blog post, but I still believe it to be true no matter what any fine individual would like to say about it:

For whatever reason you are on Twitter, remember that we’re there together.  Focus on laughing, smiling, joking, silliness and peace.  You have a choice to be there.  Make it matter in a positive way (Hey, in my opinion, vulgarity and perversion IS positive stuff on Twitter! LoL).  Or you really don’t need to be there.  Go to Facebook.  *GRINS*

And to add to that:

1) Being "Blocked" doesn't mean anything.  It doesn't hurt anyone.  It is a 'preference', a choice everyone on Twitter has.

2) There are no "rules" except to have FUN.

3) I friend/follow who I want to friend/follow, doesn't make me or any one antisocial.  Makes me human.  Free will.  We all have it.  What gives anyone the right to label other people anyhow?

Word?  Word.

...boto boto suk suk!
